Chain Letters

It saddened me today, to log onto Facebook to casually read the updates from the groups I have joined, and I found they were full of Chain Mail spam!

Honestly, I don't care who "Bob" is, or really want him and his house to "take over Facebook." Neither do I believe that a girl is going to come to my room in the middle of a Monday night to cut me open and watch me bleed.

I didn't believe it when these things were new, and you actually had to e-mail, or even snail mail them to people. I certainly don't believe in them now. What the heck is the point?

Is it a scam? Is some kind of virus going to save all of the names of the groups and people I link it too? What's in it for the people starting these things besides making a couple of people look like fools to everyone on the internet? People they probably have never met!

Chain letters are dumb. Chain mail is dumb. I always delete it from my inbox, or have it sent straight to my spam box.

I'm not just talking about the chain mail that says "If you read this you will die if you don't send it to X number of people." I am also talking about the chain mail that you can receive from friends who are over zealous about the humor behind internet stories or pictures.

I don't mind if people send me a funny link now and again, but do not email me fifteen times in one day if all you have to say is "Look at this funny picture!" or "This story made me cry!"

Cause I could give a flying flip whether or not that picture was funny, or if that story made you cry.

I have my own websites I go to in order to see funny pictures and read sad stories, thank you very much!

And at least I have the decency to keep them to myself!

.....

Well.. most of the time. :)

I guess even I am not immune to the lure of an occasional funny photo that must be shared.
